A great and must read article: 2006 mustang for sale
Q: 06 mustang?
i bought a used 06 mustang v6 standard convertible with no owners manual… is there a hidden auxiliary jack somewhere? and can u change the cluster lighting on all models or only on the better packages?
A: First of all let me get you that missing owners manual.
It is available as a free download from Fords website.
I’ll put the link below for you. It is in pdf format so you can easily save it to your computer and/or print it for future reference.
http://www.motorcraftservice.com/pubs/content/~WO6MUS/~MUS~LEN/42/06musog2e.pdf
(clicking the ^above^ link will start the download)
Now about the auxiliary jack-no the ‘06 doesn’t have a jack-input, but if your radio system has an “aux” button then an auxiliary accessory can be wired in by your dealer.
And the “My Color Dash” was part of the “Interior Upgrade” package and it also included a 6-guage instrument cluster instead of the standard 4-guage cluster.
You will be able to tell if you have it just by looking at the middle part of your instrument cluster. Are there 2 guages in the center part (standard) or 4 guages (optional) ?
(You can also compare the 2 different guages on page10 of the digital manual provided)
I hope this helps,
Q: What parts should I add to my 06 Mustang GT?
I own a 06 Mustang GT. I was looking more into looks than power, seeing as though it already has 300 HP. I also dont want to put a $5000 supercharger in it. I was looking at a ram air hood. Any suggestions?
A: ..yes later profile mustang has not bad power, but not great, runs 300 at the crank but at the rear wheels maybe 260 or 270….so if you want to run with the faster jpnese jobs, or modified 6 cylinder mustangs really does need enhancement.
in any event your thought for a shaker-ram air intake system is a good one and will differentiate your car from the other mustangs – without doing that bodykit stuff.
http://www.americanmuscle.com/2005-gt-shaker-system.html
in terms of other appearance items
- mustangs look better dropped..they can be lowered on eibach springs (with a slight rake front to back).
-stock wheels/tires for the mustang – as with most factory cars – are too small. best look is 19in rims riding on narrow profile tires….you can run up to 20 in rims if you want.
the rims ‘ tires will also personalize your car.
-for exhaust without investing in a catback system…,you can consider installation of electric exhaust cutouts,
http://www.racereadyperformance.com/welcome.php?section=Welcome
install them after the cats- in front of the mufflers, run some nice stainless exhaust tubing from the cutouts to a spot in front of the rear wheels (side exhaust)…gives a nice look. when you want the sound, open the cutouts (controlled from inside the car)….when you want to be legal, flick of a switch)…. lots of exhaust cutouts clips on you tube.
overall in my opinion i would do distinguishing modifications rather than bodykit to differentiate your car….so for wheels for example stay away from traditional designs ….
but thats a personal view – lot of options for you-largest aftermarket following is the mustang.

anyway have a look at sites like cardomain.com, lots of owners have published pics of their mustangs/modifications.
…but as i said, mustang power is ok, but stock-not great, so when you finish with the appearance stuff, consider the performance stuff-thats actually a lot more fun.
cheers 04 cobra, dropped on eibachs running on 19in foose originals-ZR michelins, built out engine, supercharged-whipple blower at 15lbs, measured on dyno at 575rwHP

Q: what would make my 06 mustang gt with a kenne bell supercharger choke?
my 06 mustang gt has a ton of upgrades all professionally installed. but lately the car has been doing this things where at around 10lbs of boost it starts choking like its not getting enough air or fuel. i have taken it in and diagnosed and they couldnt find the problem. they say the tuning is perfect but the car is running a lil lean but not bad..doesnt make sense in my eyes either but what are some things i should be looking for?
A: Injectors (either clogged or MAXED out). Could be other fuel delivery problems and possibly a slipping belt (I’ve been there plenty of times), however. What fuel are you running? Try chevron techron and run a fuel system treatment before relying on a mechanic to diagnose it. If need be…dial down the boost by swapping s/c pulley by .5-1″.
You should buy an aeroforce interceptor so you can at least get the injector output information.
Q: can you suggest a hood scoop for my 06 Mustang?
I have a white with dark red racing stripes 06 Ford Mustang. I like the look of the hood scoops. can you suggest one for my car? Im guessing it will be non functional unless i have a big hole cut out of the hood. I like it just for the look. If i can order it factory painted that would be a plus too. High performance white. Does anyone like the Roush hood scoops, or are there better ones?
A: i dont know how much money u want but i personally try to get a shaker system and they r functional but they r expensive
http://www.americanmuscle.com/2005-gt-shaker-system.html
a cheaper one would be a roush look nice or something like it

Q: How much would it cost to replace radiator tank on an 06 Ford Mustang at a radiator shop?
I need to replace the radiator tank on my 06 Ford Mustang V6 after running into some ice, How much would it run me if i took the radiator out and took it to a shop and asked them to just replace the radiator tank? Thanks… -Nick
A: more than likely you have a plastic tank on that and if you do you might as well just go buy a new radiator.
Q: The Most HP You Can Get From An 06 V6 Mustang?
What is the most HP you can pull out of an 06 mustang v6 without spending thousand upon thousands of dollars?
A: i would not run nitro through a stock engine. you will blow the pistons, snap the pistion rings, and possibly even detonate it.
For a few grand you can get an Eaton M85 or get a custom turbo setup, but dont do over 8lbs of boost
Q: How much would a new convertible top be for my 06 mustang?
I purchased my mustang convertible and it has a tan roof, but it is stained and the thread is starting to come out. I want to get a black top. About how much does a new convertible top cost?
A: Anywhere between 1500 and 2000. Depending on who does it and what quality of top they use. You realize that the back window is a seperate part from the top. If you change colors that will need to be replaced as well. You might consider buying some fabric dye and coloring it yourself. Either that or park it on a dark street and hope someone cuts it. The insurance will pay for it then.
Q: What preloaded tuner or chip should I get for my 06 mustang gt?
I just bought a stock 2006 mustang gt and I want some more speed on the take off and top speed. I would also like to change my rev limiter. I have looked at several different brands and am not sure which is the best bang for the buck! I run 91 octane gas.
also how much hp will your tuner of choice add? (they all seem to say 22 rwhp)
A: Brenspeed is the nations top mustang tuner and #1 SCT tuner as well , I did my research through mustang forums before I got everything there, very reputable, there custom tune can be sent through email that can be downloaded to your sct tuner and just upload it yourself(its really easy , just plug it in to your obd port and remove fan and fuel fuses and GO…takes 10 min). Brenspeeds tune also raised my rev limiter to 6500 ,opened up the throttle more and increased my timing. Alot in the s197 community get there parts and tunes from brenspeed. If you want the most power from your tuner and cai combo , get a 93 octane performance tune.If you want crazy take off speed a very good investment would be going with 4.10 gears and aluminum driveshaft, the stock 3.10 or 3.55 are gonna hold you back alot .You will notice a big difference in take off with 4.10 or 3.90 , the 3v modular does have alot of potential , so if you look into other inexpensive but yet very effective upgrades such as steeda delete plates , throttle body , Long tubes, OFF road pipes. My 2007 Mustang GT is running 362WHP , ALL MOTOR , Brenspeed tuned
Q: My ‘06 Mustang with manual is making a really loud revving noise when I brake and slow down. Explanations?
It sounds like it’s revving up when I’m braking. I’ve heard manual new generation Mustangs can be pretty loud, but is this noise normal? Again it has an AirRaid cold air intake system installed in it.
Obviously I don’t have my foot on the gas if I’m braking. It just makes this really unpleasant growl that sounds like revving when I’m slowing down or braking.
A: You’ve got a tachometer – is it just loud or does the needle actually climb when you release (step on) the clutch? If it does, your idle air bypass valve may be sticking open. Your OE plastic upper intake doesn’t muffle air intake noise like the old aluminum ones, and your cold air kit probably replaces the silencer portion of the original air inlet ducting. If it’s just hisses loudly for a moment, you may have to live with it. If it really hangs high, and a light tap on the IABPV doesn’t bring it down, check with ford for a technical service bulletin on the problem. If it does, replace the valve.
Q: 06 Mustang GT, What Colour Would You Choose And Why?
If you could set up a colour (Yes, with a u) scheme on an 06 Mustang GT, what would you go with? Nothing too fancy, two tone is fine, racing stripe decals are fine too, just be specific.
I personally have been looking at the jet black with blood red stripes
One other question while I’m here, is it EXPENSIVE to have a little pin-striping done?
A: I would either have white with black stripes, blue with white stripes, or red with black stripes. To answer you second question: Yes, pin striping is quite affordable.
Q: What’s the fastest supercharger on the market for an 06 mustang v6 premium, and how much would it cost?
Also, what is the maximum horse power it can deliver? Thanks.
A: a well developed 4 liter sohc supercharged engine can put out over 500 hp, but it takes lots of $$$$$$$$..it’s not just the supercharger, but the whole package…

Q: What should I use to clean the Interior on my 06 Mustang?
I’m mainly looking for something that can clean the dashboard and like where the cupholders and center console are. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.
A: Armorall makes a product that is also an interior cleaner. It will clean vinyl and leather and I have used it on carpet with no discoloration.
If you’ve got lots of dust, especially in the cupholders where it will be hard to get with a rag, you might want to get some Swiffers as they actually attract dust with static electricity.
Q: How can I make my 06 mustang v6 premium faster?
And how fast can I realistically make it without having to completely change the engine? And how much would it run me?
A: There are superchargers available for the 4.0L that will net exceptional gains (100+ HP easily), but they aren’t cheap, figure spending around $4k-5k for the kit, a bit more for labor, and another couple hundred for dyno tuning (which is mandatory). It may be cheaper to sell what you have and buy a GT of the same vintage.
Q: Why are my brakes on my 06 mustang squeeling?
I’ve had my car for a year this month and when I press the brakes I hear this annoying squeeling noise. It doesn’t do it all the time just like 75% of the time. Do I need new brakes already?
I thought brakes lasted a while I only have 16,000 miles on my car!
It does it all throughout the day. Drives me up the walls! I only take it to the dealership for warranty work since our ford dealership sucks here. I guess I’ll get my friends in the car club to look at it. I was in an accident 3 months ago where I slammed on the brake very hard but still hit a big gmc truck that turned in front of me could this have messed them up?
I had my uncle who’s a mechanic look at them today and he said it’s just some brake dust which annoys the crap outa me but my brakes are good!
A: Depends on the mileage and your driving habits. It wouldn’t hurt to bring it to the dealer for an inspection.
Q: who would win in a race between 01 cevy cavalier z24ss and a 06 mustang v6?
I gotta know I got this old dude trying to race and I’m tired of him running his mouth its time to put up so I just need some opinions on who would win before we race next week .legally at a local track. That is lol.
Oops. My bad, correction: its not a z24ss, its just a base model. I gave him too much credit.
A: Mustang will destroy the cavi, all day long.
I’ve owned both, AND raced them before…. my oldass v6 mustang could STILL stomp one of those Cavi’s.
Just race this loser, better yet put money on it and make sure all of your friends and his stupid friends are there to see it!
Btw, he has 115hp, YOU have 210hp.
Of course that is crank HP, not what you’re actually putting to the ground, but regardless you still have 80-100 more HP than him!
Relax, put the pedal to the floor, and just look in the rear view mirror and wave!
