Q: What do you think? Taking Payments Up on a car?
A man i know that works with my mom has a Ford Mustang for sale low miles and its a 07…. Is there any way that i can take up the payments, where the car is leagally mine. some like A type agreement even though im just making payments in his name. The State I live in is ALaBMA? I just wanna know just so i want make payments on a car then he change his mind and tell me he want it back after i have paid it off!!
A: No, you can’t and have any protection. You can’t buy it because he can’t sell it because he doesn’t own it yet, the finance company does.
Assuming he doesn’t owe more than the car is worth, you might want to discuss it with his finance company and see if they would accept you on the note and switch everything into your name.
Be aware most finance companies insist on full coverage, which won’t be cheap on a Mustang, so factor that in.
Oh, and if you go ahead and make his payments, he won’t have to ask for it back, it will be in his name and all he will have to do is come and take it. If you resist and he calls the police, they will be on his side as the owner of the car, and you might go to jail.
Q: What is the best way to use touch-up paint on a 1/2 inch scratch?
I found a scratch on my black car near the antenna, the night I drove home from the Ford Dealer with my new Mustang GT. It is about 3/4 of an inch long and is deep enough to appear grayish white and be felt with your finger nail. The rain has not made it rust so I guess the scratch is down to the primer. Ford Dealers in my area are incompetent, and untrustworthy. I am afraid they will make it worse if I bring it back to them. I live in the South Florida area and hope someone knows of a talented scratch service business that can help me out down here. The Mustang GT is a great car, you just have to be careful to get one that has been put together right. Mine was the 8th one I test drove before I felt it was defect free. If the scratch is the worst thing that I find after a week of driving, I’ll call it being lucky. After spending 32k out the door for this 07 GT/CS, the dealer hasn’t even called me to how I’m doing. The Honda Dealer always called and touch base with me after the sale.
A: This is a really hard thing to fix by youself,I have been in to detailing and light body work for many years and fixing scratches on your own is a real pain. Quick fix, clean the scratch (wax remover) and apply touch up paint,it will never truely match and you always notice the discolor in the paint, your best bet is to check at a local body shop where they can clean, sand, reprimer, paint and clearcoat the scratch and some of the surrounding area, and you’ll never have known it was ever there
Q: Why the enforced stereotypes of seniors driving big luxury cars?…?
I’m 71 1/2, and a proud owner of Ford products for over 26 years…the last two times I tried to buy a Ford vehicle at our local dealer, I was pressured to buy a Lincoln instead(the stupid sales manager just wouldn’t take “NO” for an answer, and was truly STUPID to the umpteenth degree!)…the manager insisted I buy a Lincoln to “cement” my social status with my fellow seniors, as well as mainly to appease the advertising agency handling their account…
Why are the advertising agencies trying to reinforce this stupid(and socially correct) stereotype on us seniors?…
Thanks from Pauline(proud owner of an ‘84 Mustang LX, ‘93 Escort LX wagon, ‘98 Ranger XLT, and currently a ‘07 Escape XLT!)…
Gee whiz, JJ, I’m going against the “norm”, eh?…LIVE WITH IT!
I HATE Lincoln, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, INfiniti, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Maybach…well, you get the message…I LOVE FORD!…so there!
Well, we seniors(and the AARP) need to teach the carmakers AND sales managers that we are NOT stupid, and THEY don’t know what a Studebaker is!
Keep those great answers coming, and thanks to that Canadian who sent in that one…just for once I’d love to see a Meteor Montcalm or Pontiac Laurentian on L.A.’S streets(wearing a Yukon or Ontario license plate!)…
BTW, I forgot to mention that I live in a 63-year-old, 990-square-foot house(completely paid off since 1971!…NO mortgage!), with a garage that can accomodate a small Chevy Chevette or Ford Escape…but nothing bigger than that!…
HTH…
A: No idea… I drive a stick shift Nissan Frontier Pickup…. cant get it away from me…. dont want to drive anything else. I’m right at retirement as far as age. Hope that helps.
