11 mustang

A great and must read article: 2011 ford mustang for sale

Q: Why do almost all car magazines choose the ‘11 Mustang over the Camaro? Is it really the better pony car?
Explain. I plan on getting one of the V8s, but not for a couple years…till I can actually afford it (maybe)

A: They are both great, but the Mustang wins mainly for a couple of reasons:

1 – weight. The Mustang is much lighter than the Camaro, which is why the GT is faster than the SS despite the Camaro having a much larger and somewhat more powerful engine. More importantly than the speed though is the handling, the lighter Mustang handles much better

2 – day to day livability. The Camaro pays for it’s cool styling by being difficult to see out of compared to the Mustang, and that gets old over time. The headroom is poor too if you’re over 6 feet tall.

All that said, when you get to the point of looking at them, you should certainly test both.

Q: What is the best mustang as far as years go. That you could get for 11 thousand dollars and run real good?
What do you guys think? And also if it goes to far back and i dont like the model.. Does anyone know another real nice car i could get for the same price?

A: Keeping in mind that even the famous 5.0 V8 from the late 1980’s made only 225hp, and today’s base V6 makes 210hp (the 2011 V6 will leap past 300 with the GT offering more than 400hp), you are going to be best-served by looking for an well-maintained GT from 2005 or newer (the latest body style) as that will help to ensure finding one that runs well and is reasonably reliable. You can even choose to buy a Ford Extended Warranty if you choose.

It’s important to remember that the Mustang, for the past 20 years, hasn’t been a terribly powerful or fast car, especially the non-GT’s; and until 2011, they’ve pretty-much used the same basic hunk of cast iron under the hood. While the recent 300hp GT’s are a lot of fun to drive, especially those with a 3.55 axle, for the most part, the faster Mustangs have generally been those that have been customized or modified to add performance.

The best part about Mustang has rarely been its inherent power… it’s bang for the buck. And while all of that changes for 2011 when even a brand new $20K Mustang will have 300 ponies of kick, the recent GT’s (2005 and newer) have been the best so far. Especially if you like the current body style, the best choice would be to look for the best 2005 GT you can find with the least miles and the best care.

Best of luck. I hope this helps.

Q: how do i make an 11 second mustang and 500hp v6?
ok so heres the deal, im looking to buy a used car, prlly a 00-04 mustang
what would be the best and cheapest way to make it an 11 second car? all though i know it wont be cheap lol

im trying to find a v8 with a supercharger already on it, and mayb throw some nitrous express on top of that??? i just dont know what kind of mods i need to make to the car so it doesnt go BOOM on me and blow up haha

ALSO! i found a 2002 mustang gt, the guy says it has a procharger and intercooler already on it pushing 480 horsepower and 60lb injectors that will make it over 500 hp…AND HE SAYS ITS A V6?
is he just telling me crap cuz i didnt know they made “gt’s” that are v6s

THANK!!!!!
cody

A: power is NOT cheap. Easiest way to your targets – is to purchase an 03 or 04 cobra.
They came stock – supercharged and running at approx 400hp.

because the engine which was 4 valve per cylinder was hand built with forged bottom end and race heads, oversize brakes a race ready 6sp transmission they can on stock internals be taken up well over 500hp by swapping in a higher boost supercharger or porting the existing blower and swapping in bigger engine pulley, smaller blower pulley.
you would still need custom tune by a pro-shop, better exhaust, high performance clutch (centerforce DFX or mcleod), better intake and intercooler.

03-04 cobras are presently selling in the 19,000 to 26,000 range and the modifications would require a further $4000-9000 depending o whether you installed a new blower or modified existing blower.

to get a 00-04 GT up over 500 hp is a serious big job because the engine is short on valves (only 2v per cylinder) and the internals (rods, crank, bearings, pistons) are not forged plus top end is weak.
the MAXIMUM this profile GT can be taken up to (whether by supercharger or nitrous or any combination thereof) is about 380 hp WITHOUT doing work on the inside of the engine….remember stock these only produced about 260 at the crank and about 235-240HP at the wheels

so you are either looking at swapping in a performance crate engine (plus $10,000) or full rebuilt of the GT engine including stroker kit, port, polish, race heads, cams, injectors and all new equipment (intake, exhaust, headers, fuel pump….clutch and transmission…plus of course high boost supercharger or turbo-if you are using a pro-shop for all of this I estimate you are in the range of $12,000 to 15,000 for this build.

here is an example of a cobra on its factory internals with a high boost supercharger can run

http://www.dragtimes.com/Ford-Mustang-Timeslip-17330.html

to make extreme power and hit the 500 number is not cheap to build and its not cheap to maintain…..so if you do not have a budget that works, forget it – cheap installation either never perform properly or more likely result in engine failure.

cheers04 cobra, 2.3 whipple blower at 15p.s.i, fully streetable, measured on dyno at 575rwHP

Q: What 11″ Brake Rotor to use on Mustang II Spindle?
Needs to have 5 on 4.5″ bolt pattern (ford) Need to know if any special bearings need to be used. I am using Large GM Brake calipers. Speedway sells a kit but it makes the front end 2″s wider and I don’t have the room.

A: Check with your local Auto-Parts supplier for parts from a Ford Granada, should work fine.

Q: Is getting my 11 year old daughter a new Ford Mustang a good Christmas gift for this year?

A: can u adopt me? i will do anything u want me to do. lol

Q: How much will a ‘11 Mustang GT (the 5.0L V8) cost me if I buy one used in 3 years?
I drive an SUV right now (Ford Explorer Sport) but after riding in my buddy’s ‘07 Audi RS4 I’ve decided that I want something fast for my next car. I’m kinda poor and sure as hell can’t afford an Audi or the like..so I figure something like a Mustang might be my best bet? I really don’t know…I just like the way the newest ones look, sound and drive, and figure they aren’t outrageously expensive. I’m hoping to get a different car in 3 years or so and would like for it to have <60k miles. Whats something like that going to run me?

A: Look up a current 3year old Mustang (‘08) and it’ll be about the same price.

But then again that’s 3years away. Things can change in your situation over that time including what’s important to you.

Don’t try to compete with your friend over cars, especially if you are poor like you said and he’s riding in an Audi RS4.

A mustang even brand new is crap compared to any audi, let alone an rs4.

Oh and haha at the other answer saying fords are “expensive” at $20,000

Q: What is the lightest 2011 mustang 5.0 model?
I am looking to buy a ‘11 Mustang 5.0, but i want the fastest lightest one.
Which is the best? California special? i don’t want all the electronic crap because that add weight and i think if i get the California it add that kinda stuff.

A: Get a base GT hardtop with manual transmission. Pretty much all the deluxe packages are simply exterior/interior modifications that only add weight, not power. One way you can really enhance performance is to order a set of ultra lightweight wheels and sell the stock ones. Unsprung weight makes a huge difference.

Q: 2010 Camaro, Lexus IS F, 2010/11 Mustang?
Alright so im gonna be turning 17 and my dad is getting me a new car.
Since we are Indians, we are like hooked on camrys and foreign stuff
I thought i would change it up. I am thinking about getting a 2010 Camaro 2SS, but it sucks cause this stuff does not have navi, backup cam, and all that stuff that is like in all the new cars

Now the lexus is F is GREAT! It is just too expensive, i dont think i can get like a 58k car

I am planning to get a new car in november of 2010. What do yall think about the prices?

How much will each car be in late Nov/Dec?

A: If you can afford the Lexus it is the best car as far as resale, reliability, and quality. If price rules out the lexus you should defiantly wait till they unveil the new 5.0 Mustang this year. The Camaro is a hot car right now but resale is already speculated to drop fast and the reliability is shaky at best. The 5.0 Mustang and all of the GT Mustangs have huge resale value, lower insurance/maintenance costs, and over the years/miles hold up better.

Q: What is the best way to sell my 2008 Jacl Roush 427 TRAKPAK Mustang?
I have a 2008 Jack Roush 427 TRAKPAK Mustang with 11,500 miles on it and I NEED to sell it. Ive tried ebay, craigslist, and nothing has worked. Any help (or interest) would be appreciated.

A: Vehix.com

Q: how or where can i find a 03-04 mach 1 mustang for 11,000 or less?

A: most of the mach 1’s i have seen for sale price in the range of $13,000 if in really good condition…
like here
http://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/cto/1103205650.html
this is about as cheap as i have seen recently

http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/ctd/1095849526.html

if you want to pay less you’ll have to get something like this (rebuilt with salvage title

http://dallas.craigslist.org/dal/cto/1096189181.html

all you can do is scout on the listings for your city-neighbouring cities

cheers, 04 cobra…..

Q: how much horsepower does a stock 2002 v6 mustang get when you put a procharger in it at 11 psi?

A: 11 psi is enough to launch the heads through the hood before you can enjoy it! But post pics, I’d love to see a puny V-6 EXPLODE under 11 PSI

Q: Speaker Shaker 400 for Mustang 2010/11?
Are these speakers good? and are they changing the speaker set for 2011 cuz they’re having America Club package instead of Pony, and they change the whole set of engine. So…..

A: yep, theyre really good, not sure about latest model though.let me know !

Q: How can you make a 67 Mustang handle big horsepower without a roll cage?
Or is a cage the only way to strengthen the unibody of a Mustang? I know subframe connectors are a joke on these cars. I am running 11.80’s, but it is a street car. I would like to build a chassis and drivetrain to handle (some day!) 700-800 horsepower. My body is already “rippled” from running the e.t. that I do. I’d like to make sure that car is rigid enough to prevent this in the future.

A: if you get into 10 second et’s i believe you have to have a roll cage to race. you should check out chassis specialty shops for proper chassis stiffening.

Q: Where can I get a 1999 Mustang GT convertable under $11,000?
In Tuscaloosa Alabama

A: I see a lot of good deals on eBay. Just don’t be afraid to travel.

Q: What is the top speed of a 2007 mustang v6 with the addiction of a vortech high output superchargering system?
http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/product.php?p=93&cat_key=11

thats the web address to see more information. long story short, it increases horsepower from 210 up to 330 and torque from 240 to 337.

I know a lot of other factors go into this, but currently my mustang tops out about 110 and i was wondering if anyone could give me an estimate if i add the supercharger.
thanks

A: 110ish same as before. Its still limited to the same top speed for safety reasons. Due to the V6 models soft suspension it is unstable at high speeds.
